Taiwan plans to ease more border controls as epidemic subsides (2022/06/23)

The CECC reported 48,283 local COVID cases on Thursday. Authorities said the COVID wave is subsiding, and that daily case counts could drop by 10,000 within a week.

Commenting on border restrictions, the CECC said it planned to push forward with Taiwan’s reopening. One measure will be to raise the daily cap on international arrivals. Another will be to open the borders for tourism and family visits. Currently, entry is limited to Taiwan nationals, business travelers, and holders of an alien resident certificate.
