TSMC skyrockets past NT$600, lifting Taiex to fresh record (2021/01/13)
TSMC shares have ended above NT$600 for the first time, amid reports of a major chip order from Intel. The Taiwan chipmaker closed up 2.36% on Wednesday, taking its market cap close to NT$1.6 trillion. Its meteoric rise sent the weighted index sharply higher. The Taiex closed up 269 points to notch yet another record high of 15,769, on turnover of NT$360.7 billion.
Over on the forex, the Taiwan dollar continued its ascent against the greenback. Taiwan's currency climbed to an intraday high of NT$27.947 before pulling back under central bank intervention. It closed slightly higher at NT$28.445.

台積電刷新605元 領漲台股新高收15769點
台股護國神山再發威，台積電一舉衝上605元，大漲2.36%，不只刷新股價新高，市值直逼16兆，更帶領台股一飛沖天，終場大漲269點，收在15769點，續創歷史新高，成交量3607億。
不只台股步步高升，匯率也不顧央行的心戰喊會，持續走升，盤中大漲5.34角，一度觸及27.947元，尾盤拉回，小升3.6分、收在28.445元。專家分析，在資金行情推升下，台股有機會繼續攻高。
