Legislator Hung Tzu-yung quits New Power Party (2019/08/13)

The New Power Party took another hit today, as lawmaker Hung Tzu-yung declared that she’s leaving the party. The announcement came after a three-hour party meeting that was called after Chiu Hsien-chih resigned as chairman. According to Hung, too little is being done to address divisions in the party.

Hung says the party would fare better without her. She says she’ll be running in the coming legislative elections as an independent. With her departure, only two lawmakers remain in the party: Hsu Yung-ming and Huang Kuo-chang .
