Hsieh Su-wei rises to No. 50 in women’s singles after historic Australian Open (2021/02/22)
Taiwan tennis ace Hsieh Su-wei has risen 21 places to rank 50th in the world in women's singles. The rise comes after her historic run at last week's Australian Open, where she reached the quarterfinals before falling to Japan's Naomi Osaka.
It was the first time a female player from Taiwan had ever made it to the quarters at a grand slam event. However, the top-seeded Hsieh disappointed expectations in women's doubles, crashing out in the second-round match in Melbourne. In the latest WTA ranking, Hsieh lost her place as World No. 1 in women's doubles and now stands at No. 3.
