China confirms it’s drawing up watch list of pro-independence Taiwanese (2020/11/26)
China has confirmed that it’s drawing up a watch list of pro-independence Taiwanese who it plans to, quote, punish. A report on the watch list surfaced in a Hong Kong newspaper earlier in November. They were confirmed for the first time at a Wednesday news briefing by the Taiwan Affairs Office.

We will continue to take precise crackdown measures to severely punish stubborn Taiwan independence activists who make arrogant remarks and conduct malicious actions, as well as the individuals who organize, plan, and implement secession activities both inside and outside of Taiwan, as well as their financial backers and main supporters.

They’re attempting to intimidate Taiwanese society. This kind of vile behavior will not make the Taiwanese people feel the slightest bit afraid. On the contrary, it will increase their loathing of the ignorance and arrogance of the Communist dictatorship. We will not compromise because the other side is pressuring and intimidating us. The government will also pay close attention as the situation develops, adopt the necessary defenses, and draw up countermeasures.
Taiwan’s Mainland Council Affairs also emphasized that Beijing does not have rule of law, and that Taiwan citizens travel to China at their own risk.

國台辦揚言嚴懲台獨份子 陸委會：視情勢發展研議反制作為
中國國台辦首度證實，正制定台獨頑固份子清單。

“我們將持續採取精準打擊措施，依法嚴懲那些涉獨言論囂張，謀獨行徑惡劣的台獨頑固份子，包括在島內外組織、策劃、實施分裂國家活動的首要分子，及其金主等主要支持者。”

“試圖威脅恫嚇台灣社會，這種惡劣的行徑，不但未讓台灣人民感到絲毫的畏懼，反而更加厭惡共黨專政體制的無知與蠻橫。我們不會因為對岸施壓恫嚇而妥協，政府也將注意情勢的發展，採取必要的防衛，及研擬反制作為。”
陸委會也提醒國人，中國不是正常法治國家，去對岸交流，要留意自身權益和潛在風險。
