Taipei City Government installs sensors to help drivers find a parking spot (2018/10/11)

Finding a parking spot in downtown Taipei can be an agonizing affair. That may be about to change with Taipei City Government embedding sensors along some of the city's busiest streets. Starting this month, drivers can use a smart app to find an empty space.

It's a much smarter version of another app, which wasn't always accurate, since it was updated manually by parking enforcement officers. The new sensor-based system is billed at providing up-to-date information to drivers when a space opens up. 163 urban roads and some 4,000 parking spaces are expected to be covered by the end of the year.
