Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen meets Panamanian President Juan Carlos Varela
President Tsai Ing-wen today met with Panamanian President Juan Carlos Varela at his official residence. In comments to the press, Tsai thanked Varela for his public commitment to the peaceful development of relations between Taiwan and China.

Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen visited the Panamanian presidential palace today, and Juan Carlos Varela, the President of Panama, was waiting to greet her outside the main entrance.

Taxis surround the Legislature in protest over official inaction against Uber
Over 100 taxi drivers parked their cars outside the Legislature today to protest what they called inaction by lawmakers and the Transportation Ministry over Uber, which continues to operate illegally in Taiwan. Bank chairman seeks to allay fears over effect of Brexit on local markets
In an attempt to allay fears over the potential effects of Brexit, Wu Tang-chieh, the chairman of the Land Bank of Taiwan, emphasized that Taiwan wouldn’t be hit too hard in the short-term thanks to its low dependence on trade with Britain. Forecasters predict 2 to 4 typhoons make landfall in Taiwan amidst La Nina phenomenon this year
Typhoons have been late to arrive in Taiwan this year, with forecasters saying that strong tropical wind systems could appear in another one to two weeks. Ultra Marathon in Gobi Desert
Taiwanese ultra-marathon runner Tommy Chen placed fifth in a seven-day, 250 kilometer-long race through the brutal environment of China's Gobi Desert.
