Government orders schools to finish finals before Election Day (2019/12/02)

Taiwanese universities will hold their final exams in January. The Ministry of Education has issued a notice asking schools not to schedule any exams after Election Day on Jan. 11.

The government said this would allow students to go home to vote, without having to rush back to school. KMT lawmakers have blasted the move, saying it was a DPP maneuver to get the youth vote. DPP legislator-at-large candidate Fan Yun said it sounded like the KMT had given up on winning over young people.
