Central bank unveils coin set for Year of the Pig (2019/01/10)

The central bank has unveiled its commemorative coin set for the Lunar Year of the Pig in 2019. Sales start Jan. 17 at the Bank of Taiwan, and this year the government has released a short video showcasing the coins.

Here are the details: There's one silver coin with a face value of NT$100. The front features a foraging pig, which is a symbol of good fortune. The back features a scene from the iconic Matsu pilgrimage. The second coin in the set is struck in bronze alloy and has a face value of NT$10. It shows a peony in full bloom, representing joy and prosperity.
