    Wet New Year’s Eve (2011/12/26)

The cold air mass that pushed temperatures down to 8.5 degrees Celsius in northern Taiwan’s Danshui over the Christmas weekend has started to weaken. The lowest temperature recorded today was 9.9 degrees in Chiayi before temperatures climbed two to three degrees during the day.

However, starting from Thursday, northeasterly monsoon winds are expected to strengthen. That is expected to bring rain and cold temperatures that could cause a wet New Year’s Eve in the north and east of Taiwan.
