Medical records stolen from Taipei’s Department of Health (2018/09/13)

Authorities today confirmed a data breach at Taipei City's Department of Health. Late last month, hackers broke into the Taipei City government's data systems and stole millions of medical records. Authorities are investigating a tip that the company in charge of the data system had planted a backdoor Trojan virus that enabled the hack.

Millions of records taken from Taipei's health system have been listed for sale on foreign websites. Taipei's Department of Health says it began the investigation after being alerted to abnormal systems traffic.
